This has resulted in Telegrams founder Pavel Durov being arrested in France, and the French authorities clamping down hard. This does set a precedent, but is something that is playing out in Europe right now with a lot of large tech companies being held to account over privacy, security and much more. Brazil is also pushing back with X and it is currently suspended over its refusal to comply with courts in the country!

All of this news is something that I was expecting to happen sooner, to be fair – but Mr Durov moves around a lot and it seems he was actually unlucky to be caught when he was. Let’s see what happens in the future, but this is another case where the authorities seem to want to clean up the wild west tinternet an app at a time…
