After a few botched launches, supply problems and stupendously crazy high prices complete with melted power connectors AGAIN we are now hearing that some 5090 cards have “missing” rops that can harm performance by up to 4% (nvs claim there). After being the go to graphics card company for ages as the others cannot seem to get everything right, NV risks becoming yet another Intel or Nokia and falling from grace. How has this happened you may ask? Well I think, once again, a bit like Intel, NV has just had it far, far too easy for far too long and literally has taken its eye off the ball. Not being pushed for around 3 or 4 generation, again just like Intel, means that NV needs to really, really screw up to see any problems – coupled with the fact that AI makes way more money seems to be the real reasons around the pricing and stock issues, but th other – well that just seems to be NV believing they could (and still probably will) get away with it.
The above video pretty much hits the nail on the head with this. I’d like to hear your thoughts on this matter!
